The mission of The Wise Mind Institute (WMI) is to alleviate the suffering of those we treat while developing exceptional mental health clinicians. We employ post-doctoral level clinicians to ensure each therapist has the training, education, and experience to meet the needs of the varied populations that seek the Institute’s help. A post-doctoral clinician has earned his/her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology and provided a minimum of 1500 supervised hours of psychotherapy. Our clinicians are registered with the California Board of Psychology (BOP) as Psychological Assistants, which enables them to render psychological services to the public under the supervision of a licensed Clinical Psychologist.
We are exceedingly selective in our hiring process and only employ clinicians who demonstrate a strong commitment to our core principles of wisdom, compassion, and mindfulness. Each clinician receives one hour of direct individual supervision and two hours of group supervision per week with Dr. Chris Harrison (PSY 23743) and/or Dr. Wes Pederson (PSY 26040). In addition, WMI offers in-depth, advanced training in the following modalities: Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT); interpersonal neurobiology; existential-humanistic psychotherapy. Clinicians complete their training with WMI when they become licensed with the BOP. Clients continue working with their clinicians after licensure to ensure continuity of care.
